FitForce runs private postnatal training in Dubai at your home, starting once you have medical clearance — usually around six weeks after birth, later after a caesarean. Sessions last 45 to 60 minutes and begin with core and pelvic floor recovery before any return to harder training. Every new client starts with a free assessment.

The order matters more than the effort

Most postnatal fitness advice gets the sequence wrong. The instinct after birth is to go straight at the stomach — crunches, planks, whatever it takes to feel like yourself again. Done too early, that specific approach can make the underlying problem worse rather than better.

What has to come first is the deep core and pelvic floor, and they have to come back before anything is loaded on top of them. Your abdominal wall stretched over nine months and the connective tissue down the middle softened. Load it before it has recovered and you can widen the separation you are trying to close.

A postnatal programme is essentially a sequence: restore, then rebuild, then return. Skipping to the third stage is the single most common mistake, and it is why some women are still dealing with leaking, back pain or a persistent bulge a year later.

What is diastasis recti, and do you have it?

Some separation is normal and expected.

Essentially every woman has it by late pregnancy, and NHS postnatal physiotherapy guidance notes that around 39% still do at six months postnatal.

Small separations usually resolve on their own.

Typically within four to eight weeks. A larger separation takes considerably longer and needs specific, structured work.

The sign to watch for is midline doming.

Bulging along the middle of your stomach when you sit up from lying down. Your trainer screens for separation at the first session and builds around it.

Significant separation gets referred, plainly.

Where the separation is significant, your trainer will tell you a women's health physiotherapist should assess it before loaded training starts.

The standard fixes make it worse.

Sit-ups, crunches, planks and press-ups are all off the table until the separation has closed enough to handle them.

How the programme progresses after birth

Recovery is not linear and nobody moves through these at the same speed. Your trainer decides when you move on, based on how you are actually doing rather than how many weeks have passed.

Restore
FROM CLEARANCE

Breathing, deep core reactivation and pelvic floor work, plus posture correction for all the feeding and carrying. Gentle enough to do while exhausted, which is the point. Usually the first four to six weeks of training.

Rebuild
WEEKS 6–16

Strength returns gradually — glutes, back and legs first, since those carry the daily load of a baby. Core work progresses only as far as your separation and pelvic floor allow, checked as you go.

Return
4 MONTHS+

Back to full training if that is what you want, including running and heavier lifting. Some clients move here at four months, others much later. Both are normal.

What happens in a session?

A postnatal session runs 45 to 60 minutes at your home, and the baby is welcome. Sessions get paused for feeding and resumed, and nobody minds — trying to arrange childcare in order to exercise is one of the reasons new mothers stop exercising entirely. Each session opens with how you are doing: sleep, energy, any pain, any leaking, anything that has changed. Then breathing and core work, then strength appropriate to your stage, then a brief stretch. On a bad week it stays gentle. That is not a wasted session, it is the programme working correctly.

When can you start? The usual guidance is around six weeks after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery, and longer after a caesarean, which is abdominal surgery and heals accordingly. Your doctor's clearance at the six-week check is the gate, and we will ask for it. Gentle pelvic floor work can often begin much earlier, sometimes within days. There is no upper limit at the other end — plenty of clients start a year or two after birth, and the sequence works just as well then. Your trainer brings all the equipment.

Will this help me lose the baby weight?

Eventually, yes, but it is deliberately not the first goal and any programme that leads with it is selling something. Weight comes off as strength returns and routine stabilises, and the process is slower than most people are led to expect. Breastfeeding, broken sleep and a body still recovering all affect it.

Most clients notice function returning first: less back pain, no leaking when they sneeze, carrying the car seat without their back complaining. Those are the markers your trainer tracks early on. Once the foundation is solid, clients who want to focus specifically on fat loss move across to our weight loss programme, which is built for it.

Sleep deprivation is worth naming too. Training on four hours of broken sleep is a different proposition, and your trainer will scale sessions rather than pretend otherwise.

Where you can train in Dubai

Postnatal personal training in Dubai happens at your home, across Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, Business Bay, Jumeirah Lake Towers, DIFC, Jumeirah, Arabian Ranches and Dubai Hills Estate. For new mothers without family nearby — which describes a lot of Dubai — having the session arrive at the door is often the only version that actually happens.
